A newly spotted job listing suggests Rockstar Games could be working on a mobile companion app for Grand Theft Auto 6.
In the past, Rockstar launched companion apps for both GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2. RDR2’s app included an interactive real-time map, journal access, and even a strategy guide, while GTA V’s iFruit app allowed users to remotely customize vehicles and play mini-games. Now, with GTA 6 officially on the horizon, a similar mobile tool may be in the works—possibly with even more integration and features.
On June 30, 2025, fans on Reddit noticed a new Mobile Engineer position listed on Rockstar’s careers page. The role involves building and maintaining Rockstar’s mobile platform, with the description noting the need for expertise in iOS and Android development and SDK integration. While the listing doesn’t outright mention GTA 6, players have quickly linked it to the upcoming title, especially given Rockstar’s history and timing.
Given GTA 6’s setting in the fictional state of Leonida and its heavy emphasis on in-game social media—as seen in trailers featuring viral influencers like Real Dimez—fans believe the companion app could deeply tie into that world. Ideas range from summoning in-game taxis from your real phone to browsing a TikTok-like feed of in-game content outside of the console.
There’s even talk about managing safehouses, shopping, or upgrading gear through the app—mirroring how real-world apps support lifestyle convenience. Nothing has been officially confirmed yet, and with GTA 6 set to release on May 26, 2026, it’s unlikely Rockstar will spill the details anytime soon.
