Shift Up has officially taken steps to make the fan-created character Dororong — better known as “Doro” — part of its own intellectual property. After featuring the quirky mascot in both Goddess of Victory: Nikke and Stellar Blade promotional content, the developer has now filed for a trademark to secure the character’s design and branding.
According to details listed on the Korean Intellectual Property Office website and reported by GameSpark and Automaton, the application was submitted on August 29. It covers Doro’s visual design as well as multiple versions of the “Doro” logo, signaling that Shift Up intends to use the character more prominently in the future.
Doro’s origins are as unconventional as they come. The character first appeared on the Korean gaming forum Arca.live, created by a Nikke fan as a meme parody of the in-game character Dorothy. The lighthearted, chibi-style twist quickly caught on with the community, spawning fan art, memes, and eventually catching the attention of the developers themselves.
Over time, Shift Up began weaving Doro into official content, most notably in the Stellar Blade x Nikke collaboration DLC. With the trademark process underway, it’s likely we’ll see Doro pop up in more events, merchandise, and crossovers.
