Street Fighter 6 has officially crossed 5 million units sold worldwide, according to an announcement from Capcom.

This marks a steady rise in sales for the popular fighting game, which had reported 4 million copies sold back in September 2024.

The latest sales jump comes shortly after the game launched on the Nintendo Switch 2. Capcom said the decision to bring the game to the new console was part of its plan to “maximize the game’s userbase.”

The Switch 2 version of SF6 includes exclusive features such as custom gameplay modes and new mechanics that make use of the Joy-Con 2’s gyro controls. Importantly, it also supports crossplay, which helps players connect across different platforms and keeps matchmaking fast and active.

Capcom credited these efforts as key reasons behind the game’s growing popularity, saying that the expanded reach has helped Street Fighter 6 maintain strong global sales. The company noted that it is satisfied with the game’s performance so far and that it is tracking in line with expectations.

Street Fighter 6 originally launched in June 2023 and reached 3 million copies sold by January 2024. Capcom has previously stated it hopes the title will eventually surpass the lifetime sales of its predecessor, Street Fighter 5, which has sold around 7.8 million copies. The goal is to reach over 10 million units sold during the game’s lifetime.

For context, earlier titles in the franchise include Street Fighter 2, which sold 6.3 million copies, and Street Fighter 2 Turbo, which hit 4.1 million on the SNES.

Compared to its long-time rival Mortal Kombat 1, which also sold 5 million copies since its release in September 2023, Street Fighter 6 appears to be holding its ground. However, Mortal Kombat 1 sales were seen as underwhelming, with developer NetherRealm already moving on to a new project.

Capcom, on the other hand, is continuing strong support for Street Fighter 6 into its third year. A new DLC roadmap was recently shared, with four new fighters joining the roster: Sagat in summer 2025, C. Viper in fall, Alex in early spring 2026, and Ingrid in late spring 2026.

With new content and platform expansion, Street Fighter 6 still has a clear path toward its long-term sales goals.
