Street Fighter 6’s player count spiked last week following the release of new fighter Sagat. The long-time series antagonist, known as the “Emperor of Muay Thai,” returned to the roster on August 4.

Alongside Sagat’s debut, Capcom rolled out the first part of the Outfit 4 collection — a set of six swimwear skins for Cammy, Chun-Li, Manon, Luke, Kimberly, Jamie, and A.K.I.

According to community discussions on Reddit and X, these outfits have been warmly received, with many players showing them off in matches and fan content.

As per SteamDB data, Street Fighter 6 hit a peak of 50,975 concurrent players on August 4 UTC, coinciding with Sagat’s arrival. This is a noticeable jump from the game’s usual 25,000–30,000 average, with updates consistently driving spikes in engagement.

Historically, Akuma’s release remains the biggest surge so far with 70,202 concurrent players, followed by crossover fighters Mai Shiranui (63,218) and Terry Bogard (54,280).

With Sagat now available and more Outfit 4 skins on the way, it’s clear that Capcom’s update strategy continues to keep the community engaged. Street Fighter 6 is currently playable on PC (Steam), PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. The game has sold over 5.2 million copies so far.
