Sultan’s Game, the narrative-driven card-based RPG from Double Cross Studio and publisher 2P Games, has officially crossed the 1 million sales mark on Steam.

Launched in late March, the game made an early splash by selling over 100,000 copies within its first 48 hours. Since then, it has steadily climbed the charts thanks to word-of-mouth praise and a loyal player base.

In June, Sultan’s Game consistently pulled in over 9,000 daily players and peaked with more than 46,000 concurrent users in its debut, according to SteamDB data. The game’s reception has been nothing short of stellar — currently sitting at a 94% positive rating out of over 24,000 reviews.

To celebrate the milestone, Double Cross Studio shared a heartfelt post thanking the community for its continued support. Along with the thank-you note, the team also revealed a packed roadmap outlining what players can expect in the coming months. A 15% celebratory discount is also live, dropping the game’s price to $21 on Steam until July 24.

Here’s what’s coming next for Sultan’s Game:

Crowdfunded Character Arrives in August

One of the most anticipated additions is a brand-new character designed during the game’s crowdfunding campaign. The character’s personality and role were shaped through eighteen community-voted questions, and their in-game dialogue is currently being finalized. Localization work is also underway to ensure the new content is globally accessible when it drops in August.

Gallery and Collection Upgrades

The History Gallery is set to receive a major overhaul. Instead of only displaying ending records, players will soon be able to explore a broader range of collectibles including card galleries, full ending collections, and more.

Mod Support Expansion

Double Cross Studio is opening the game further to the modding community. This means more customization options, improved compatibility, and fewer barriers for mod creators who want to tweak or overhaul content.

Character Storylines Get a Boost

Many characters in the game currently lack fully fleshed-out backstories — something the developers are eager to fix. Fans can expect deeper narrative content for companions like the Court Physician, Raed the vagrant leader, and other key figures from the Fate Shop.

New Endings and Expanded Epilogues

As keen-eyed players may have noticed, two of the fifteen ideology achievements in the Nursery are still missing. Those are being developed alongside their epilogues to round out the game’s ideological arcs. Additionally, some existing endings will receive expanded epilogues that better reflect the player’s choices and the resulting character outcomes.

Throughout all these updates, Double Cross Studio assured players that bug fixes, polish, and player feedback will remain top priorities. “We’re always listening to your feedback,” the studio said, encouraging users to report issues via their official feedback form.

The fan response has been enthusiastic, with players praising the game’s depth and narrative design. One Redditor described it as “a really fun one,” noting the uniqueness of each run and comparing it to Cultist Simulator or Book of Hours, but with turn-based mechanics. Another player highlighted the game’s polish and replayability, although some mentioned that the lack of English-language guides makes certain mechanics harder to explore.

About the Game

In Sultan’s Game, players assume the role of a minister working under a volatile and ruthless Sultan. Each in-game week, players must draw cards that assign morally complex tasks. Completing them within seven days is essential — failure could mean execution. Blending resource management, political decision-making, and branching narratives, the game offers a high-stakes strategy experience with numerous possible outcomes.

For anyone looking to try it out, Sultan’s Game is available now on PC via Steam, currently at a discounted price of $21 (down from $24.99).
