Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are stepping into virtual reality for the very first time with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Empire City. This all-new action-adventure title is set to launch in 2026 for Meta Quest and SteamVR.
Publisher Beyond Frames Entertainment and GORN developer Cortopia Studios are teaming up for the project.
The dev team is best known for their work on GORN 2, the over-the-top gladiator brawler that earned plenty of love from players—and now they’re bringing that VR expertise to the world of TMNT.
A New Chapter in the Turtle Universe
The story kicks off after the fall of Shredder. With their longtime enemy out of the picture, the Foot Clan begins tightening its grip on New York City.
Players will explore the city as it faces this new threat, navigating rooftops and back alleys to take down the rising criminal presence.
And for the first time ever in VR, all four turtle brothers are playable. You’ll be able to suit up as Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, or Michelangelo in first-person—and even better, you can team up with friends in co-op for up to four players.
Each turtle brings their signature weapons and unique fighting styles, so expect some variety in how each one plays.
Combat, Parkour, and Brotherhood
The game leans heavily into themes of teamwork and brotherhood. According to early reports, players can expect a mix of intense combat and heartfelt moments between the turtles.
Movement will be a big part of the experience too, with fluid parkour mechanics that let you scale buildings, leap across rooftops, and dive into battle.
Combat focuses on mastering each turtle’s iconic weapon—whether it’s Leo’s katanas or Mikey’s nunchucks—with mechanics built around strikes, blocking, and strategic timing. While the devs haven’t revealed which classic villains you’ll be up against, they’ve confirmed fan-favorite enemies will definitely make appearances.
In true VR fashion, you’ll play from the turtle’s point of view—mask and all—making it feel like you’re really in their shells. The immersive setup means physically moving, dodging, and swinging your weapons as if you were one of the heroes in a half shell.
TMNT: Empire City is officially headed to SteamVR and Meta Quest 3 in 2026. Store pages are already live on both platforms, so you can wishlist it now. While there’s no full gameplay footage yet, a teaser trailer and a few screenshots offer a sneak peek at what’s to come.
