The Rogue Prince of Persia, developed by Evil Empire, has officially launched on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S after being revealed during Gamescom 2025.
The surprise factor? It shadow-dropped straight onto Xbox Game Pass on day one, giving subscribers instant access at no additional cost.
Unlike the more traditional Prince of Persia entries, this latest installment takes a roguelite approach, combining fast-paced combat with the fluid platforming fans of the series expect. Players take on the challenge of saving Persia, navigating procedurally generated levels filled with traps, enemies, and plenty of wall-running parkour.
A standout feature is the variety of combat options. According to Evil Empire, the game includes over 100 unique weapons and medallions. Medallions work as customizable skill boosts, letting players mix and match up to four at a time, each adding distinct gameplay twists — from elemental damage to movement enhancements. This flexibility is designed to encourage experimentation and replayability.
When it comes to pricing, here’s the breakdown across platforms:
PC (Steam / Epic Games Store) — $29.99 USD
PlayStation 5 — $29.99 USD, also included with PS Plus Extra/Premium
Xbox Series X|S — $29.99 USD, included with Xbox Game Pass
Cloud Gaming — Available via Xbox Cloud Gaming, Ubisoft+, and Amazon Luna with subscriptions
Nintendo Switch & Switch 2 — Launching later in 2025, pricing to be announced
For many, its sudden arrival on Game Pass may be the biggest surprise, making it easily accessible to millions of players right from launch. Early impressions from Gamescom already highlighted the game’s addictive loop of parkour movement and roguelite progression, and now fans can try it for themselves.
Meanwhile, Ubisoft hasn’t forgotten its other Prince of Persia project. The company confirmed that the long-awaited Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake is still in active development and remains on track for an early 2026 release. The remake, first announced years ago, has faced multiple delays, but Ubisoft reassured fans that the team is “deep into development.”
