Ubisoft and Evil Empire’s roguelite action-platformer The Rogue Prince of Persia is officially arriving on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 today, December 16, 2025.

Following its successful PC early access debut in May 2024 and full release across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC in August 2025, the game now expands to Nintendo’s hybrid consoles. Evil Empire’s game director, Lucie Dewagnier, described the Switch release as a “perfect fit for hybrid play,” highlighting the game’s fast-paced action and replayability.
Release Date and Time
Both the Switch and Switch 2 digital editions launch on December 16, 2025, at midnight local time (12 a.m.) via the Nintendo eShop. This means players in New Zealand can jump in early.
The game arrives with all content from the 1.0 release, including biomes, weapons, medallions, and procedurally generated levels.
For collectors, publishing partner U&I Entertainment has confirmed physical Standard and Immortal Editions will release on April 10, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Switch, and Switch 2. Pre-orders opened on November 14.
Price
Digital pricing is consistent across both platforms:
Switch / Switch 2 Digital Edition: $29.99 MSRP
Physical Standard Edition: $34.99
Immortal Edition: $49.99
The Immortal Edition offers premium extras like SteelBook, case, 3 premium art cards (game art front; reverse sides form map pieces), Double-sided poster (amulets/weapons/tools one side; official art other), Collectible outer o-ring/sleeve/box, and game key card for Switch 2.
Switch 2 Features
While Ubisoft has not detailed exclusive enhancements for Switch 2, the version benefits from optimization and a smaller file size:
Switch File Size: 3.7 GB
Switch 2 File Size: 1.4–1.5 GB (optimized compression)
Performance: Confirmed 60 FPS on Switch; Switch 2 expected to match or exceed this with smoother play.
Modes: TV, Tabletop, and Handheld are supported on both consoles.
The game’s design emphasizes fluid acrobatic combat, wall-running, and roguelite progression. Players can unlock over 100 weapons and medallions, adapt builds mid-run, and explore procedurally generated levels where no two attempts are the same. The Switch 2 edition doesn’t list higher resolution or exclusive features, but its optimization suggests improved performance and stability compared to the original Switch.
