2K Games has confirmed that WWE 2K25’s online servers will officially shut down on March 14, 2027, ending all online features for the wrestling title.

While this means multiplayer and community creations will no longer be accessible, players can still enjoy offline modes such as Play Now, Showcase, MyRISE, MyGM, and Universe beyond that date.
The timeline gives the game a two‑year online lifespan from its original launch on March 14, 2025, for PlayStation and Xbox platforms.
However, Nintendo Switch 2 owners are getting the short end of the stick. Since the game only arrived on Switch 2 in July 2025, players there will have less than two years of online access before the servers go dark. To make matters more frustrating, the physical edition on Switch 2 is a “code‑in‑box” release, meaning there’s no true cartridge to preserve.
This is a very much standard practice in sports games and other annualized franchises. Publishers like EA, 2K, and even Konami typically support online features for only a few years before retiring them. Sports titles like FIFA/EA Sports FC, Madden NFL, NBA 2K, and WWE 2K release new entries every year. Once the next game is out, the older one quickly loses its active player base.
Looking ahead, WWE 2K26 is already in development. Take‑Two Interactive and 2K have confirmed the next entry, with a release expected in March 2026. A full reveal will likely arrive around the Royal Rumble. Platforms include PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam), while a Nintendo Switch 2 version is also anticipated, though it may launch later in summer 2026 as with this year’s entry. Support for PS4 and Xbox One remains uncertain as developers continue shifting away from last‑gen hardware. Official features have not yet been detailed.
In addition, financial reports suggest that a WWE 2K mobile game for Netflix subscribers is in the works, with a release planned before the end of the current fiscal year in March 2026. No further details have been shared so far, but it signals 2K’s intent to expand the franchise beyond consoles and PC.
