In what’s quickly becoming the norm, Microsoft’s multiplatform strategy is proving to be a massive win—Xbox-published games have once again stormed the PlayStation Store download charts for May 2025.
Forza Horizon 5 Leads the Pack
Forza Horizon 5 continues its cross-platform hot streak, topping the PlayStation 5 download charts in both North America and Europe. Just last month, it was already making noise—#1 in Europe and #3 in North America.
This marks the second month in a row that Xbox titles have ruled PlayStation’s digital storefront. In April, Oblivion Remastered led the charge in the US and Canada.
While Sony’s official PlayStation Blog didn’t share specific numbers, Alinea Analytics reports that Forza Horizon 5 has sold 2.2 million copies on PS5 as of early June 2025. That’s pretty wild for a game that’s been out for five years, especially since it’s been part of Xbox Game Pass, where over 45 million players had already played it before it even hit PlayStation.
To celebrate its PS5 release, Playground Games dropped a sleek new green-and-blue car livery last month in Forza Horizon 5, symbolizing the growing bond between Xbox and PlayStation players.
Microsoft Titles Flood the Top 10
Several other Microsoft-owned titles also surged into the top PS5 rankings, outshining many of Sony’s own offerings:
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, a stylish indie RPG supported by Xbox, stunned everyone by landing at No. 2 in both regions.
Oblivion Remastered, last month’s chart-topper, still held strong at #6 in North America and cracked the top 10 in Europe.
Minecraft, still a juggernaut, came in at #7 in North America and remained a staple across both charts.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6—a result of Microsoft’s Activision Blizzard acquisition—secured a top 10 spot in both regions.
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle still holding onto Europe's charts (#17).
Even DOOM: The Dark Ages, another Xbox title, performed well, showing up in both charts.
Other Notable Mentions
While Microsoft clearly stole the spotlight, other key releases made strong showings:
Elden Ring: Nightreign, launching at the end of May, managed to secure #2 in North America and a top-5 position in Europe.
EA SPORTS FC 25, NBA 2K25, and F1 25 continued to represent sports fans.
Split Fiction, RoadCraft, and The Precinct all made notable appearances as new or rising indies.
