Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Targets Grammy Nominations for Its Acclaimed Soundtrack

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is already considered one of the strongest contenders for Game of the Year in 2025, but developer Sandfall Interactive and publisher Kepler Interactive have their eyes on another milestone: the Grammys.

Why Is Expedition 33’s Soundtrack Making Headlines?

The official soundtrack for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, composed by Lorien Testard, has already achieved remarkable success on the charts. It topped the Billboard Classical Album Chart in several European countries, including a three-week run at No. 1 in France, and even crossed over into mainstream streaming platforms. Physical editions have been equally popular both the CD and vinyl box sets sold out within days of launch.

Music critics and fans have praised the OST’s sweeping orchestral arrangements, and several outlets have already named it a frontrunner for Best Score/Music at The Game Awards later this year. But the ambitions don’t stop there.

What Grammy Categories Are Being Targeted?

Laced Records has officially launched a campaign for the soundtrack to be nominated at the Grammys, specifically in the category Best Score Soundtrack for Video Games and Other Interactive Media. This category is still relatively new, introduced in 2023. Past winners include:

  • Stephanie Economou (Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: Dawn of Ragnarök) – 2023

  • Stephen Barton & Gordy Haab (Star Wars Jedi: Survivor) – 2024

  • Winifred Phillips (Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord) – 2025

If nominated, Expedition 33 would be joining an impressive lineup of award-winning video game composers.

Even more ambitious, the team is also pushing for a nomination in Best Song Written for Visual Media with the track Lumière, performed by Lorien Testard and Alice Duport-Percier. This would be historic as no video game song has ever been nominated in that category since its creation in 1988, as it traditionally spotlights music from film and television.

All eyes are now on November 7, when the Grammy nominations will be revealed.

Since its launch on April 24, 2025, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has sold 4.4 million copies worldwide, a huge achievement for a studio’s debut release.

The popularity of the soundtrack has also inspired a live concert tour, which kicks off in France on October 25 across three cities. Tickets have already sold out, and organizers hinted that more international stops could follow in 2026.
