The milestone was revealed during the company’s Q3 2025 financial results, and it’s particularly notable because the game reached this figure faster than The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt managed in the same timeframe.

For a title that had one of the most infamous launches in recent memory, this turnaround is impressive. I remember the chaos back in December 2020—refunds, lawsuits, and the game being pulled from the PlayStation Store. Yet here we are, five years later, with Cyberpunk standing as CD Projekt’s biggest revenue driver. According to CFO Piotr Nielubowicz, “Cyberpunk is currently our main source of revenue, and we continue to expand its availability.”

In 2025 alone, the game launched on Nintendo’s Switch 2, received a tailored Mac version, and joined PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium. Each move brought in new players and boosted sales of the Phantom Liberty expansion. Joint CEO Michał Nowakowski added that the milestone proves the franchise’s “enduring power” and gives the studio confidence to be “more audacious about charting its future.”

Of course, the future means Cyberpunk 2. The sequel, once known as Project Orion, is now in full production. CD Projekt confirmed that 135 developers are working on it, up from 116 earlier this year. The Boston team, which started with fewer than 50 people in 2023, has grown steadily and is expected to surpass 300 staff by 2027.

We’ve also had some intriguing teases. Cyberpunk creator Mike Pondsmith revealed at the Digital Dragons 2025 conference that the sequel will feature a brand‑new city alongside Night City. He described it as “like Chicago gone wrong,” hinting at a darker, dystopian vibe. And yes, Keanu Reeves has already said he’d love to return as Johnny Silverhand. Pondsmith even mentioned he’s worked out a way to make that happen.

Meanwhile, CD Projekt isn’t neglecting The Witcher 4. With 447 developers assigned, it remains the studio’s largest project. The game was shown earlier this year in an Nvidia tech demo running at 60fps on PS5, and it’s already nominated for “Most Anticipated Game” at The Game Awards.

Looking at CD Projekt’s overall performance, revenue jumped significantly this quarter, with Cyberpunk accounting for more than 70% of sales.
