Team Cherry has officially revealed the first post-launch update for Hollow Knight: Silksong, bringing a mix of bug fixes and minor balance tweaks aimed at smoothing out the early-game experience.
The patch, version 1.0.28470, doesn’t remove the game’s signature difficulty, but it does make the opening hours a little more manageable.
Silksong only launched on September 4, yet it’s already cemented itself as one of 2025’s biggest hits. Within just three days, the game attracted more than five million players, including over three million copies sold on Steam, according to Alinea Analytics. At its peak, player activity even caused purchasing issues across multiple storefronts. A week later, it’s still maintaining daily peaks of over 500,000 concurrent players — an impressive feat for any indie release.
But while the launch numbers have been staggering, not every fan has had a smooth ride. Many players praised the challenge, but others felt the early bosses were a little too punishing. Some even turned to mods to reduce the difficulty. Now, Team Cherry is responding with a patch that aims to strike a balance—offering relief without taking away the game’s core identity.
When Does the Update Arrive?
There’s no firm release date for 1.0.28470, but the studio says it should roll out by mid-next week, likely around September 17 if everything goes to plan. For PC players, the update is already available through the public beta branch on Steam, so you can test it ahead of time.
What’s Changing?
The main focus of the patch is fixing progression-blocking bugs and technical hiccups, but there are some key gameplay adjustments as well. Notably, Moorwing and Sister Splinter, two of the more infamous early bosses, are getting a “slight difficulty reduction.”
Other tweaks include reducing the damage dealt by Sandcarvers, increasing rosary rewards from relics and courier deliveries, and lowering the prices of mid-game Bellway and Bell Bench costs.
Full Patch Notes Highlights

Team Cherry also confirmed that a second patch is already in development to tackle other lingering issues not addressed here.
