Team Cherry has officially confirmed that Hollow Knight: Silksong will release on September 4, 2025, finally ending years of speculation around the much-anticipated sequel. The news came alongside a fresh trailer unveiled at Gamescom, offering fans a deeper look at Hornet’s journey through Pharloom. The footage showcased eerie graveyards, swampy regions, a lively insect-populated city, and teased an impressive lineup of over 200 enemies and 40 bosses.

For those who may not remember, Silksong was first announced back in 2019 as a planned DLC expansion for the critically acclaimed Hollow Knight. However, as the scope of development grew, Team Cherry turned it into a full-fledged standalone sequel. Much like its predecessor, the upcoming title sticks to its Metroidvania roots, blending challenging combat, exploration-driven gameplay, and atmospheric world-building.

Hollow Knight: Silksong PC System Requirements

The official PC requirements for Hollow Knight: Silksong have now been detailed, and the good news is that players won’t need a high-end gaming setup to enjoy it.

Minimum Requirements:

  • OS: Windows 10 version 21H1 (build 19043) or newer

  • Processor: Intel Core i3-3240 or AMD FX-4300

  • Memory: 4 GB RAM

  • Graphics: GeForce GTX 560 Ti (1GB) / Radeon HD 7750 (1GB)

  • DirectX: Version 10

  • Storage: 8 GB available space

Recommended Requirements:

  • OS: Windows 10 version 21H1 (build 19043) or newer

  • Processor: Intel Core i5-3470

  • Memory: 8 GB RAM

  • Graphics: GeForce GTX 1050 (2GB) / Radeon R9 380 (2GB)

  • DirectX: Version 10

  • Storage: 8 GB available space

Interestingly, these specs are not far off from the original Hollow Knight. The main leap comes in CPU and GPU generations, with the sequel now requiring an Intel i3-3240 instead of the older Core 2 Duo, and a GTX 560 Ti instead of the GeForce 9800GTX+. Another obvious change is the shift in operating system support, moving from Windows 7 to Windows 10.

Despite these hardware jumps, Silksong surprisingly asks for less storage space than the original game (8GB vs. 9GB). This points toward improved compression methods and optimized asset handling — something more common in modern indie development.

The updated requirements suggest that almost any PC or laptop built in the last decade should be able to handle the game smoothly. While the hardware demands are slightly higher than before, they remain modest compared to most modern titles.

Instead of pushing excessive requirements, Team Cherry has ensured that Silksong remains approachable for both casual players and dedicated fans.

Beyond PC, Hollow Knight: Silksong is also confirmed for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Switch 2. Moreover, it will be available day one on Xbox Game Pass, making it even easier for fans to dive in at launch.
