India Could Secure Direct PMGC 2025 Slot Through Upcoming BGMI Tournament

India may soon receive a direct path to the PUBG Mobile Global Championship (PMGC) 2025.

According to new reports, the winner of an upcoming unannounced BGMI tournament is expected to secure an automatic qualification slot, bypassing regional qualifiers entirely.

For Indian teams, who have often faced hurdles in maintaining consistent international representation, this would be a historic opportunity. A guaranteed berth at PMGC 2025 means local teams can showcase their skills at the highest level without the uncertainty of regional qualifiers.

This potential move comes in the backdrop of Krafton’s decision to delay the ambitious BGMI Franchise League, which was initially designed to function like the IPL with long-term slots for organizations.

As per reports, the franchise model failed to attract the expected interest, leading to its indefinite postponement. In place of the league, Krafton is now prioritizing high-impact standalone tournaments that can deliver global exposure and keep fan excitement alive.

BGMI Showdown 2025 is the Likely Candidate

While Krafton has not yet confirmed which tournament will offer the PMGC slot, industry chatter points strongly toward the revival of the BGMI Showdown. The last edition of the Showdown, held in 2022, was notable for its short format, 24 invited teams, and ₹15 lakh prize pool. It also served as a qualifier for an international PUBG Mobile event. If Krafton follows the same blueprint, the 2025 edition could be reimagined on a much larger scale — this time with a direct ticket to PMGC at stake.

Interestingly, due to regulatory sensitivities around PUBG Mobile’s ban in India, reports suggest Krafton may avoid using the PUBG Mobile branding domestically. Instead, the event could be marketed under the name BGMI Global Championship or simply the Global Championship, while still maintaining its official link to PMGC 2025 internationally.

For now, Krafton has not issued any official statement. An announcement is expected in the weeks following the conclusion of the BGMI Masters Series 2025, which ends on September 14.
