Infinity Nikki Developers Apologize for Problematic Update

Infinity Nikki

Infold Games has issued a formal apology to Infinity Nikki players after the recent Version 1.5 update — dubbed “Bubble Season” — was met with widespread criticism over bugs, confusing story changes, and aggressive monetization.

The backlash led to a review bombing on Steam that prompted the team to extend the event’s timeline while promising improvements.

A Rocky Bubble Season

Released on April 28, Version 1.5 was meant to introduce a raft of new features, including fresh challenges, gameplay mechanics, and seasonal events. Instead, it left many players frustrated due to a slew of technical issues.

On PlayStation 5, players were reportedly forced to redownload the entire game just to get it running again. Other issues included persistent crashes and even cases where the main character, Nikki, would not move at all.

Making matters worse, the update altered key story elements — including the removal of the Threads of Reunion arc — and introduced monetization changes that some fans described as “scummy.” One reviewer wrote, “They dove deep into gacha greed this time. It's a shame because the game had so much potential.”

Developer Response: “We’ve Heard Your Feedback Loud and Clear”

Two weeks later, Infold Games broke its silence with a heartfelt apology posted to social media, acknowledging both the technical issues and fan disappointment:

“We’re acutely aware that these recent issues have impacted your experience and damaged the trust and affection you've placed in us”. “To all stylists, we offer our deepest apologies.”

The developers explained that their silence stemmed from a desire to secure solid fixes before responding. They confirmed that the Threads of Reunion storyline wasn’t removed permanently and would return in a future update once technical hurdles are resolved.

Version 1.5 Extended, Version 1.6 Coming June 12

In a move to stabilize the game, the Bubble Season timeline has been extended:

  • Version 1.5 now ends on June 12, 2025, at 12:49:59 UTC-7

  • Version 1.6 launches the same day at 20:00:00 UTC-7 (subject to change based on maintenance conditions)

Several events tied to Version 1.5 — including "Chase the Bubbles," "Rainbow Album," "Where Are the Gifties?", "Floating Bubbles," "Rainbow and Pattern," and "Adventure Together" — will now run until June 12. Store content and limited-time outfits will also remain accessible until then.

Additionally, the weekly Starlit Pursuit co-op task has been delayed until Version 1.6 to allow for refinements. As compensation, 360 Starlit Crystals will be awarded to all players.

A New Communication Initiative: Miraland Round Table

To rebuild trust, Infold Games is launching the Miraland Round Table, a player feedback initiative that allows fans to share suggestions via email (using subject line [Table Advisor]) or the in-game customer service tab.

“All collected input — past and present — will be compiled, with key issues receiving direct responses,” the studio said. “Your candid feedback — both critical and encouraging — has prompted deep reflection.”

As a gesture of goodwill, players will also receive in-game Diamonds and Energy Crystals as further compensation.

Looking Ahead

Despite recent setbacks, Infinity Nikki still holds promise. The game’s blend of cozy open-world exploration and fashion-focused gameplay earned it strong praise at launch from critics.

Infold Games now faces the challenge of regaining player trust while maintaining its ambitious update schedule. If they can deliver a smoother Version 1.6 and demonstrate a genuine commitment to player feedback, Infinity Nikki may yet shine again.
