Veteran Halo Producer Kiki Wolfkill Steps Away From Xbox

Kiki Wolfkill has left Microsoft after 28 years, confirming April 17 as her last day. Here is what she said.

Kiki Wolfkill, one of Microsoft's longest-serving game industry veterans, has officially left the company after nearly three decades.

She confirmed on LinkedIn that April 17 was her last day, describing the move as a "difficult but exhilarating decision."

Wolfkill joined Microsoft back in February 1998 as the Director of Art for Microsoft Game Studios. Over the years, she climbed steadily through the ranks, eventually joining 343 Industries (now Halo Studios), where she served as Executive Producer on Halo 4. By 2015, she had taken the helm as Studio Head at 343 Industries, overseeing the studio's transmedia and entertainment division.

Her most recent role saw her leading Xbox Film and TV, which included serving as Executive Producer on the Halo television series at Paramount. The show ran for two seasons before being canceled.

"I'm so grateful for the opportunities that Microsoft has given me and the career that it let me build in an industry that I love. At the same time, there is a version of me outside of Microsoft that I'm excited to grow and evolve," she wrote.

"I have so many learnings to carry forward and more impact to be made and I couldn't be more inspired to climb the next mountain!"

As for what’s next, she’s kept things under wraps, simply hinting, “More to come on that front.”

Meanwhile, Halo Studios is currently working on Halo: Campaign Remastered, which is set to bring the franchise to PlayStation 5 for the first time. As per recent reports, the studio is also developing a Fortnite-style live-service Halo game.
