Nintendo has officially announced a new Nintendo Direct. The broadcast is set for tomorrow, July 31, at 2 PM UK time / 9 AM ET, and it will run for approximately 25 minutes.

This edition will be a Partner Showcase, focusing solely on upcoming titles from Nintendo’s third-party publishing partners, spanning both the Nintendo Switch and the Switch 2.

This confirms earlier rumors and insider reports that hinted at a late-July Direct. While fans hoping for first-party updates like Metroid Prime 4: Beyond or a new Kirby game might have to wait a bit longer, there's still plenty to look forward to from this showcase.

What to Expect

So, what might be on the docket for tomorrow?

For starters, the long-anticipated Hollow Knight: Silksong could finally re-emerge. With a playable demo confirmed for Gamescom 2025 via Xbox, and Switch versions also in development, now would be a prime time for Team Cherry to drop a release date — or at least a new trailer. While it’s been the subject of endless speculation, a Partner Showcase would be the perfect place for a multi-platform title like Silksong to make its mark.

Then there’s Professor Layton and the New World of Steam, which was first revealed back in 2023. Fans of the beloved puzzle series have been waiting over a year for a proper update. With Level-5 heavily involved in Switch development, it wouldn’t be surprising to see more from this title during the presentation.

FromSoftware’s Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition is also a strong contender. Announced earlier this year for Switch 2, this special edition will include the full base game, the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, and new content like armor sets, Torrent customization, and two new character classes. While the original announcement lacked a release date, this Direct could finally shed some light on when the Tarnished will ride again.

Supergiant Games’ Hades 2 is another exciting possibility. The rogue-like sequel is currently in early access on PC, but it was confirmed as a timed console exclusive for both Switch and Switch 2. Given its popularity and polished state, Nintendo may use the showcase to confirm a full release date.

There’s also buzz around a possible Switch 2 port of Assassin’s Creed: Shadows, though Ubisoft has yet to comment. If true, this would mark one of the more visually ambitious ports coming to Nintendo’s next-gen platform.

Additionally, confirmed titles like Borderlands 4 and FromSoftware’s The Duskbloods — a Switch 2 exclusive — are potential gameplay reveals for this Direct.

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds has also been tossed into the speculation mix, as Sega continues to expand Sonic’s presence on Nintendo hardware. Red Dead Redemption 2’s next-gen update for modern consoles (PS5 and Xbox Series X|S) is expected to be revealed tomorrow, alongside a Nintendo Switch 2 port.

That said, this Partner Showcase likely won’t include updates on Nintendo-developed titles like Metroid Prime 4: Beyond or any first-party reveals, as the focus is strictly on third-party publishers.

The last Nintendo Direct occurred in June, focusing entirely on Donkey Kong Bananza. The broader, more traditional showcase was back in April, when Nintendo officially pulled the curtain off the Switch 2, revealing its features and early game lineup.

With only hours to go, the excitement is ramping up fast. As always, the Direct will be available to watch live on Nintendo’s official YouTube and social media channels. And while fans shouldn’t expect everything, the third-party focus means there’s a lot of room for unexpected reveals and long-awaited updates.

Stay tuned — we’ll be covering all major announcements as they happen.
