Key Highlights

Red Dead Redemption 2 is arguably the biggest draw of the month. Developed and published by Rockstar Games, the open-world western epic released back in October 2018 and has gone on to sell over 82 million copies worldwide, cementing its place as one of the best-selling games of all time. Set in 1899, players follow Arthur Morgan, an outlaw navigating the collapse of the Wild West through a story packed with themes of loyalty, survival, and redemption. The game is still the most downloaded PS4 native title every month, which says a lot about how well it has held up. This is the first time it has returned to the PS Plus catalog since May 2024. Both Red Dead Redemption 2 and Red Dead Online are included in the download.

Star Wars Outlaws, developed by Massive Entertainment and published by Ubisoft, released in August 2024 and landed with a mixed reception. The game puts players in the shoes of Kay Vess, a scoundrel trying to pull off a high-stakes heist in the Star Wars criminal underworld. It received criticism at launch for its stealth mechanics and technical hiccups, but a series of post-launch updates meaningfully improved the experience. It sits at a Metacritic score of around 77 and holds a Mostly Positive rating on Steam. For players who skipped it on launch, PS Plus is a pretty good opportunity to give it a proper shot.

The Thaumaturge is an isometric RPG developed by Fool's Theory and published by 11 bit studios. It is set in 1905 Warsaw under Russian occupation and follows Wiktor Szulski, a man who wields supernatural beings called Salutors while unraveling the mystery behind his father's death. The game blends turn-based combat with investigation mechanics and branching story choices. It holds a Very Positive rating on Steam and has been noted as a distinctive experience in the RPG genre.

Enotria: The Last Song is a Soulslike developed by Italian studio Jyamma Games. It draws from Italian folklore and Commedia dell'arte, dropping players into a sun-drenched world cursed by an endless theatrical performance. The game uses a mask-based class system to vary combat loadouts and has been praised for its striking visual design. Reviews are mixed overall, with critics pointing to balancing issues, but it remains a visually distinctive debut that Soulslike fans may want to explore.

Bramble: The Mountain King, developed by Swedish indie studio Dimfrost Studio, is a short but atmospheric dark fairy-tale adventure inspired by Nordic folklore. Players guide a young boy named Olle through a grim mythical forest in search of his kidnapped sister. It runs around five to eight hours and leans heavily into horror-tinged atmosphere, stunning art direction, and haunting narration.

Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn is a more approachable take on the Soulslike formula, developed by A44 Games, the studio behind Ashen. Set in a flintlock fantasy world where gods and mortals are at war, players take on the role of Nor alongside a spirit companion named Enki. It combines gunplay with magic-based combat and offers a relatively accessible experience compared to the genre's harder entries. It previously launched day one on Xbox Game Pass.

Broken Sword: Shadows of the Templar Reforged is a modernized remaster of the beloved 1996 point-and-click adventure by Revolution Software. The game follows American tourist George Stobbart and French journalist Nicole Collard as they untangle a Templar conspiracy across Europe. The remaster updates the visuals, controls, and voice acting while keeping the wit and intrigue of the original intact. It has been received extremely well, sitting at an Overwhelmingly Positive rating on Steam and around 84 on Metacritic.

Rounding out the Premium-exclusive offering is Time Crisis, the iconic on-rails light gun shooter from Bandai Namco. The PS Plus version will feature updated gyro aiming, offering a fresh way to play the classic arcade experience on modern hardware.

Overall, this is a well-rounded month for subscribers. Red Dead Redemption 2 alone makes the update worth paying attention to, especially for anyone who has not yet experienced one of the most acclaimed games of the last decade.
