Rematch, the team-based sports brawler from Sloclap, has officially surpassed 5 million players in just under a month since launch.

The update was shared via Sloclap’s X, where the team also reaffirmed their commitment to further enhancing the game: “We’ll keep doing our best to make Rematch better.”

The game first launched on June 19, 2025, across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S (with Game Pass support), and PC. Despite drawing mixed or average reviews on Metacritic, the title quickly gained momentum.

On day one, it crossed 1 million players, and by June 24, that number had already jumped to 3 million. Now, with the latest figure confirming over 5 million players, it's clear Rematch has carved out a solid player base despite early stumbles.

However, not everything has been smooth sailing. One of the most common criticisms from the community revolves around the lack of cross-platform play, which many say leads to longer queue times, especially in less populated regions or off-peak hours. While the game’s fast-paced, competitive nature has appealed to fans of multiplayer sports titles, matchmaking inefficiencies have remained a sticking point.

Sloclap has acknowledged this issue and confirmed that crossplay support is in the works. While they haven't locked in a specific launch date yet, the feature is expected to arrive in a post-launch update sometime in the next few months. Other improvements, such as matchmaking fixes, input remapping, and a new ranked queue, are also planned for future updates.
