Key Highlights:

The rollout began on February 17 with Aerial_Knight’s DropShot and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora.

Aerial_Knight’s DropShot is a fast-paced, stylized shooter with a chaotic multiplayer edge.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, meanwhile, lets players step into the shoes of a Na’vi in Ubisoft’s lush recreation of Pandora.

Avowed also joined the lineup for Premium subscribers on the same day, bringing Obsidian’s fantasy RPG back into the spotlight with its latest updates. This latest patch introduces new playable races, a New Game Plus mode, Photo Mode, custom game options, and the quarterstaff as a new weapon type.

Just two days later, Death Howl will launch. Described as a “soulslike deck builder” and a “poignant tale of grief, healing, and resilience,” it follows hunter Ro as she ventures into a spirit realm in search of her deceased son. The game blends emotional storytelling with roguelike deck-building mechanics.

EA Sports College Football 26 also arrives on the same day, giving sports fans a chance to dive into college football with authentic teams, coaches, and thousands of athletes.

And then came the big one: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Complete Edition. Available on cloud and console for Ultimate and Premium subscribers, this legendary RPG needs little introduction. As CD Projekt Red’s masterpiece, it offers a sprawling open world, rich storytelling, and all expansions bundled together. Its arrival is particularly timely, as rumors swirl about a possible third expansion later this year, which could bridge the gap toward The Witcher 4, expected in 2027.

On February 24, TCG Card Shop Simulator enters Game Preview. This indie sim lets players run their own trading card store, stocking shelves, setting prices, and even cracking booster packs for personal collections. It’s a cozy management game that has already built a strong following on PC.

The next day, February 25, Dice A Million launches on PC. This roguelike dice-builder challenges players to roll absurdly high numbers by crafting custom dice bags. Pre-release buzz has been strong, with many comparing it to Balatro for its addictive mechanics.

Then, on February 26, Towerborne finally leaves early access and launches as a full game. Developed by Stoic, the studio behind The Banner Saga, Towerborne is a side-scrolling action RPG with co-op features. The full release adds new story content, areas, enemies, and progression systems, making it a much more complete experience than its preview version.

March begins with another pair of heavy hitters. Final Fantasy III arrives on March 3, bringing the classic JRPG to Game Pass in its Pixel Remaster form. Known for its innovative job system and timeless charm, it’s a chance for both newcomers and longtime fans to revisit a piece of RPG history.

On the same day, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 joins the service. Warhorse Studios’ medieval RPG sequel builds on the realism and historical immersion of the original, offering improved combat, branching narratives, and a gritty look at life in 15th-century Bohemia. The game has been praised for its story and combat depth, with some outlets calling it one of the best RPGs of 2025.

Game Leaving

Of course, as new games arrive, some must leave. On February 28, following 4 games leaving Xbox Game Pass:

  • Monster Train

  • Expeditions: A MudRunner Game

  • Injustice 2

  • Middle-earth: Shadow of War

Injustice 2, developed by NetherRealm Studios, is one of the most acclaimed superhero fighting games of its generation. With its cinematic story mode, deep gear customization, and a roster packed with DC icons plus DLC fighters like Hellboy and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, it set a high bar for accessibility and polish.

Middle-earth: Shadow of War, by Monolith Productions, built ambitiously on the Nemesis System introduced in Shadow of Mordor. It gave players the power to dominate orc armies, lead fortress sieges, and continue Talion and Celebrimbor’s battle against Sauron. While its launch was clouded by controversial microtransactions, the Definitive Edition later refined progression and removed those issues, leaving behind a strong open-world RPG praised for its scale and dynamic rivalries.

Both games earned critical acclaim and loyal fanbases, and their departure leaves a noticeable gap in the library.

As always, Xbox is offering a 20% discount on these titles if you want to purchase them before they leave the service. You’ve got about two weeks to decide.
