According to the company’s fiscal report for the first half of 2025/26 (covering April to September 2025), Devil May Cry 5 sold 2.13 million units during the period, making it the best-selling title in Capcom’s lineup. The surge in sales was largely attributed to the release of the Devil May Cry Netflix anime, which has reignited global interest in the franchise. For a game that originally launched back in 2019, that’s an impressive second wind.

Capcom H1 FY2025/26 Results (April–September 2025)

  • Net sales: ¥81.1 billion → +44% YoY

  • Operating profit: ¥39.3 billion → +90% YoY

  • Ordinary profit: ¥36.5 billion → +76.5% YoY

  • Net income: ¥27.5 billion → +80% YoY

  • Total units sold: 23.85 million → +19.1% YoY

What’s interesting here is how much of this success came from older titles. Catalog games accounted for 22.85 million units, or nearly 96% of total sales, while new releases contributed just under one million units, a 7.2% decline year-over-year. Clearly, Capcom’s back catalog is doing the heavy lifting.

Another key takeaway is the dominance of digital sales. Digital channels represented 94% of total sales (22.41 million units), while physical sales made up only 6%. The PC platform led the way with 13.66 million digital units sold, up 27.2% year-over-year.

Surprisingly, Monster Hunter Rise still outsold Monster Hunter Wilds despite being the older title. Wilds faced major criticism due to significant technical issues, which caused its decline despite an impressive start with 8 million sales in just three days. After that, it was all downhill.

  • Resident Evil series – 178 million units

  • Monster Hunter series – 123 million units

Looking Ahead

Capcom isn’t slowing down. Anticipation is already building for Resident Evil Requiem, slated for release on Feb. 27, 2026, which has had a knock-on effect on sales of earlier Resident Evil titles. Meanwhile, Street Fighter 6 continues to thrive, especially with its Nintendo Switch 2 release and esports initiatives like the Capcom Pro Tour 2025.
