In a twist that no one quite expected a few years ago, Microsoft has become the top-selling game publisher on PlayStation platforms in the U.S. for Q2 2025. Yep, Xbox games are now dominating the PlayStation sales charts — and in a big way.

According to new data from Circana, 6 of the top 10 best-selling PlayStation games from April to June were published by Microsoft.

Leading the pack is Forza Horizon 5, which became the 2nd best-selling game on PlayStation for the entire quarter, just trailing behind FromSoftware's newly released Elden Ring: Nightreign. That’s right — a 4-year-old Xbox exclusive is now crushing it on Sony’s turf, neck to neck with recent releases.

In third place comes another surprise: The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, also published by Microsoft.

Sony’s MLB: The Show 25 held on to fourth, but after that, it’s back-to-back Xbox titles again — Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and DOOM: The Dark Ages.

The list doesn’t stop there. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle and Minecraft also made it into the top ten, giving Microsoft a dominant presence on a platform that once treated Xbox games as outsiders.

These numbers, shared by Circana analyst Mat Piscatella, reflect both physical and digital sales from publishers who participate in the industry’s digital data tracking panel.

Noteably, this backs up a previous report from Alenea Analytics, which claimed Forza Horizon 5 had already sold over 3 million units on PS5 alone — an impressive stat for a game that started life on the rival console.

And the crossover party isn’t slowing down. Reports are now floating around that upcoming Xbox titles Gears of War: E-Day and State of Decay 3 are in development for PlayStation 5, based on info found in developer resumes and job listings. So, it looks like Microsoft is going all in on its multiplatform publishing strategy.

Interestingly, it’s not just Xbox crossing over. Sony also appears to be rethinking its exclusivity model. A recent job posting for a “multiplatform strategy director” at PlayStation hints at plans to bring first-party titles to platforms "beyond PlayStation hardware." While it’s still early days, the lines between the two console giants are beginning to blur.
