Popular Nintendo insider SwitchForce, known for accurately predicting previous Direct dates and announcements, has stirred excitement once again. In his latest YouTube video, he claimed that the next general Nintendo Direct — expected to happen on September 12, 2025 — will feature something unusual: three mysterious “7” games.
This upcoming Direct is significant because it will be the first major presentation since April, when Nintendo officially revealed the Switch 2 and its initial lineup. Now, fans are expecting updates on previously announced titles, fresh release dates, and brand-new reveals. According to SwitchForce, the “triple sevens” are set to play a central role, with the insider teasing that the showcase could feel like hitting a jackpot.
Naturally, this cryptic clue has triggered speculation across the community. Some fans believe the three “7” titles could be Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, and Ace Attorney 7. While these are guesses, each carries a fair amount of credibility.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 – Thanks to a 10-year agreement signed in 2023 between Microsoft and Nintendo, Call of Duty is officially making its way to Nintendo consoles. Although no entry has yet launched on the platform, industry outlets like Kotaku and insiders such as CharlieIntel have reported that Microsoft and Activision are actively working on it. A Direct reveal would be a fitting first step.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth – Square Enix already confirmed that Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade will release on Switch 2 this winter. And yes, series director Naoki Hamaguchi confirmed that the entire FF7 Remake trilogy is planned for the platform — so Rebirth and the upcoming final chapter are likely on the way too. A gameplay trailer or release window in the Direct feels likely.
Ace Attorney 7 – Capcom has brought nearly every previous Ace Attorney game to Switch, keeping fan interest alive. Reports dating back to 2021 suggested a new mainline entry was in development, but no official updates have surfaced since. With the Switch 2 offering fresh hardware potential, fans see this Direct as the perfect stage for its long-awaited reveal.
Beyond the “7” theory, there are plenty of expectations for the showcase. The event lands just one day before Mario’s 40th anniversary, and many believe Nintendo will dedicate a major segment to the iconic plumber. SwitchForce himself suggested the Direct could stretch close to an hour, balancing third-party highlights with big first-party announcements.
If history is any guide, Nintendo usually confirms its Directs a couple of days before they air. This means the announcement could drop on Wednesday, with the full presentation airing on Friday.
Does “triple sevens” actually refer to Black Ops, Final Fantasy, and Ace Attorney—or could it mean something completely unexpected? Share your thoughts in the comments!
