Roblox Appoints Vlad Loktev as Chief Creator Ecosystem Officer to Strengthen Developer Community

Roblox has appointed Vlad Loktev as its new Chief Creator Ecosystem Officer.

Loktev will oversee creator success within Roblox’s creator division, which includes shaping developer relations, organizing platform events, and building new tools to help developers bring their ideas to life.

In a statement, Roblox highlighted just how central this role will be for the platform’s future: “As Roblox tracks towards its goal of 10% of all gaming content revenue flowing through the Roblox ecosystem and being distributed within our community of creators, Vlad will play a key role in supporting the community making it all possible.”

Loktev brings a wealth of experience from across the tech and gaming industries. Over the past two years, he served as a partner at Index Ventures. Before that, he spent a decade at Airbnb in several product‑focused leadership roles, including director of product, VP of product and home operations, and GM and VP of product core. Earlier in his career, he worked at Zynga as senior product manager, where he helped grow Words with Friends to more than 14 million daily active users.

The timing couldn’t be more important. Roblox has been breaking records lately, with over 47 million concurrent players last month across popular titles such as Grow a Garden, Steal a Brainrot, and Dress to Impress. Notably, Steal a Brainrot shattered a world record by hitting 24.2 million concurrent users in a single game. That’s a huge milestone, and one that shows just how powerful Roblox’s community-driven model has become.

We also need to talk about the money side of things, because that’s where Loktev’s impact will be most felt. According to reports from the recent Roblox Developers Conference, the company is rolling out new initiatives to better support its creators. One big change is an 8.5% boost in the Developer Exchange (DevEx) rate, meaning that 100,000 Robux now converts to $380 instead of $350. Alongside this, Roblox revealed that creators collectively earned more than $1 billion over the past year through the DevEx program.

Earlier this month, Roblox also announced new AI-powered tools and monetization features aimed at helping developers scale their projects faster.

With Loktev stepping into this new leadership role, Roblox is clearly doubling down on its creator-first strategy.
