Steal A Brainrot drew nearly 24 million concurrent players across Roblox and Fortnite, cementing itself as one of the most viral community-made hits of 2025.

Launched on May 16, 2025, as a Roblox experience, Steal A Brainrot combines tycoon‑style progression with chaotic party mechanics and meme‑driven humor. Players collect Brainrots, voxel characters inspired by the viral Italian brainrot meme, and use them to generate in‑game income over time.

Brainrots can be purchased from a conveyor belt in the center of the map or stolen from other players’ bases. Each one sits on a pedestal in your base, passively earning money that can be reinvested into rarer Brainrots, stronger defenses, or “rebirths” for long‑term bonuses.

The game’s reach expanded even further with the launch of a Fortnite Creative edition, introducing the concept to an entirely new audience.

On September 14, Steal A Brainrot reached its biggest milestone yet. Platform statistics show the Roblox version peaking at 23.4 million players in a single day, while the Fortnite edition attracted 542,000 concurrent users. Combined, these figures place it among the most‑played titles across both ecosystems.

For comparison, Fortnite’s mainline modes, such as Battle Royale and Zero Build, typically peak at around 100,000 players on weekends.

This achievement makes Steal A Brainrot only the second Roblox game ever to surpass 20 million concurrent players, following Grow a Garden.

Just a few weeks earlier, Roblox recorded an all‑time high of 47 million players, thanks to an “admin war” between the creators of Grow a Garden and Steal A Brainrot.

By comparison, the entire Steam platform peaked at 37.9 million online accounts on August 23, with over 11.2 million games.

Roblox's surge in popularity comes at a time when the platform is surrounded by a series of controversies involving its typically young audience. Last month, the company announced a new age estimation technology to help verify teen users, along with a “trusted connections” feature that allows verified players to chat without filters.

The platform is also investing in AI to lower the barrier to game development, as well as new monetization tools to support its vast creator community. In addition, Roblox welcomed a TikTok‑inspired Moments feed, allowing users to share short‑form game clips directly within the platform.
