Shift Up’s highly anticipated sequel, Stellar Blade 2, is officially in development, and new details suggest the game may arrive on both PlayStation 5 and PC right at launch. This marks a notable change from the original Stellar Blade, which debuted as a PlayStation 5 exclusive before later expanding to PC.

The news comes from a job listing spotted by Genki on X, where Shift Up confirmed that the next installment will be a "AAA multiplatform action game built with Unreal Engine 5." According to the listing, the sequel will “inherit the stylish action and narrative-driven world of its predecessor, while delivering an evolved action gameplay experience.” While the studio hasn’t shared a release window yet, the mention of “aiming for various platforms” strongly hints that PS5 and PC players will get access simultaneously this time.
For fans, this is huge. The PS5 release of Stellar Blade was a hit, selling a million copies in just two months, but on Steam, it was on fire, hitting 1 million sales in only three days. It reached a peak of 192,078 concurrent players, becoming PlayStation’s highest single-player game in that regard. And of course, how could we forget the mods - Stellar Blade has quickly become one of the most modded games of 2025, with nearly 20 million downloads on Nexus Mods within just three months of release.
It also made history as the fastest-selling Korean game on Steam, generating nearly 60% of Shift Up’s revenue in a single quarter. That success clearly showed the demand for a wider release, and it seems the studio is ready to deliver.
Shift Up has even explored bringing the franchise to the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, though that hasn’t been confirmed yet.
Of course, fans are hoping the sequel improves on areas where the first game fell short. While the action mechanics were widely praised, the narrative was seen as underdeveloped, leaving parts of the universe unexplored. If Shift Up can tighten the storytelling while maintaining the stylish combat, Stellar Blade 2 could elevate the franchise to new heights.
For now, the studio is focused on large-scale recruitment and building momentum for development.
