Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is reportedly set to arrive on Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X|S in 2026.

The news comes from insider NateTheHate, who has a solid track record with industry leaks. In a recent discussion on Reddit, Nate suggested that Square Enix is preparing to bring Rebirth to both platforms. He added that with proper use of DLSS (NVIDIA’s upscaling technology), the game could run well on Nintendo’s next‑gen console.

The comment was made in response to a Reddit post speculating about the possible appearance of “three mysterious ‘7’ games” in an upcoming Nintendo Direct. While this isn’t official confirmation, it does align with Square Enix’s gradual shift toward multi‑platform releases.

Square Enix has already made it clear that it plans to expand beyond PlayStation exclusivity. In its May 2024 medium‑term business plan, the company announced it will “aggressively pursue a multiplatform strategy” covering Nintendo platforms, PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. So it’s not surprising to see their games jumping to other platforms — the real question is simply when.

Xbox players have already started to see Final Fantasy titles land on their system. At the Xbox Games Showcase 2025, Final Fantasy XVI was shadow‑dropped, and Final Fantasy VII Remake was confirmed for a Winter 2025 release. That means by the time Rebirth arrives in 2026, Xbox players will be fully caught up with the trilogy’s timeline.

Nintendo fans won’t be left waiting either. Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is scheduled for the Switch 2 in Winter 2025, giving players a chance to dive in before Rebirth launches the following year.

On top of that, Final Fantasy VII Remake director Naoki Hamaguchi recently dropped a strong hint that the entire remake trilogy might be heading to the Nintendo Switch 2. The tease came during a Creator’s Voice video published by Nintendo in May, where Hamaguchi said, “I hope players are looking forward to Final Fantasy VII remake series on Nintendo Switch 2.” Notice he said “series,” not just “game.”

So, whether you’re planning to play on PlayStation, Xbox, or Nintendo, it looks like Cloud and company will be everywhere soon enough.
