Here’s a detailed breakdown of game sales and milestones from July 1 to July 31, 2025, covering both PC/console and mobile titles. From new launches to long-time favorites, these numbers show what’s been trending in the gaming world.
PC & Console Games
Rust – 20 Million Copies on Steam
Rust continues to hold its place in the survival genre’s upper tier, now crossing the 20 million copies sold mark on Steam alone. After a decade of content updates and mod support, the title remains relevant—especially for fans of chaotic multiplayer survival.
Lords of the Fallen – 5.5 Million Players
Hexworks' and CI Games' Soulslike Lords of the Fallen has now reached 5.5 million players since its October 2023 release.
However, most of that figure includes users who played it via subscription services like Xbox Game Pass or PS Plus, so actual sales may be lower.
The game sold over 1 million units in its first 10 days and had reached over 4 million players by early 2025. Despite this, CI Games' CEO, Marek Tyminski, noted the game is only nearing break-even, with development, marketing, and physical release costs estimated at $66-77 million.
The action RPG, a reboot of the 2014 title, features a dual-realm mechanic and has seen significant updates, including Version 2.0 in April 2025, enhancing co-op and gameplay. A sequel is planned for 2026.
Peak – 5 Million Copies Sold
Indie darling Peak keeps climbing. The game has sold 5 million copies, with the US, Russia, and the UK emerging as its top-performing regions as per Alinea Analytics.
Sultan’s Game – 1 Million Copies
Coming from Chinese developer Double Cross, Sultan’s Game has now hit 1 million units sold. While it hasn’t made major headlines in the West, its performance proves the growing global appetite for culturally distinct narratives and game worlds.
Death Stranding 2: On The Beach – 1.4 Million on PS5
According to Ampere Analysis, Death Stranding 2 has sold approximately 1.4 million copies on PS5 by the end of June. Given the game's cinematic nature and Kojima's fanbase, it's likely to grow further once it hits PC or future platforms.
The Alters – 280,000 in Under a Month
Polish studio 11 bit studios saw a decent start for their new game The Alters, selling 280,000 copies in just under a month. While not a smash hit, it’s a strong performance for a story-driven, indie-style title with sci-fi themes.
Ready or Not – 10 Million Total, 1 Million Console in 4 Days
Tactical FPS Ready or Not has crossed a major milestone with 10 million total sales, and notably, the console version sold over 1 million copies within its first four days. That’s impressive for a game that built its momentum initially in Early Access.
Elden Ring Expansions – Nightreign at 5M, Shadow of the Erdtree at 10M
FromSoftware shared that Elden Ring: Nightreign has now sold 5 million copies, while its predecessor expansion, Shadow of the Erdtree, stands at a whopping 10 million. Both expansions reflect the immense staying power of the original title and its rich lore.
Hero Wars: Dominion Era – $750M Revenue
While not new, Hero Wars: Dominion Era deserves a mention for passing $750 million in lifetime revenue across all PC platforms (browser and social media). Since its launch in 2016, the game has attracted over 90 million users, with a significant bump from the $650 million mark reported in November 2024.
High-profile collaboration events, featuring iconic guest characters such as Lara Croft and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, can be attributed to recent success.
Stronghold Crusader: Definitive Edition – 100K in 48 Hours
Stronghold Crusader: Definitive Edition, a remastered version of the 2002 real-time strategy classic by Firefly Studios, sold over 100,000 units within 48 hours.
This milestone reflects strong community enthusiasm, driven by the game’s expanded features, including 8 new playable units, 4 new AI lords, two additional historical campaigns, and a new co-op trail. The remaster also boasts upgraded visuals in 4K, a modernized UI, and larger maps, maintaining the original’s iconic castle-building and siege mechanics.
By late July, sales surpassed 200,000, with over 16,000 concurrent players, supported by patches addressing bugs like multiplayer lag and map editor issues.
Rematch – 5 Million Players
Rematch, the multiplayer soccer game developed by Sloclap, reached 5 million unique players within a month of its launch on June 19, 2025, across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, including availability on Xbox Game Pass.
The 5v5 arcade-style football title, often compared to Rocket League for its fast-paced, skill-based gameplay, also sold over 1 million copies in its first week.
Despite its success, the game faced criticism for lacking crossplay and player reporting at launch, though Sloclap has promised to implement these features by September 2025 with Season 1, alongside a recent major update (1.200.100) addressing issues like netcode, goalkeeping, and control remapping.
Skate (Playtest) – 1 Million Sign-Ups
EA revealed that over 1 million players signed up for the Skate playtest. That’s a strong showing of interest for a title that still has no official release date.
Mobile Games
Pokémon GO – $8.8 Billion in 9 Years
According to AppMagic data, Pokémon GO has generated over $8.8 billion in its nine-year lifespan. Given its presence on alternative stores and web platforms, the real figure is likely even higher. Not bad for a game that started with catching Pidgeys in the park.
Whiteout Survival – $3 Billion in Under 2.5 Years
Whiteout Survival has officially hit $3 billion in gross revenue in less than 2.5 years. Its growth has been nothing short of meteoric—from $9.9M in March 2023, to $205.9M in March 2025. However, that pace has now begun to plateau.
Zenless Zone Zero – $442.1 Million in First Year
Despite 45 million pre-registrations, Zenless Zone Zero (ZZZ) pulled in $442.1 million in its first year. While impressive, it’s just 23% of what Genshin Impact earned in its debut year—highlighting just how massive Genshin's launch was by comparison.
Valorant Mobile (China) – 40 Million Pre-Installs
Valorant Mobile continues to build hype in China, reaching over 40 million pre-installs in just 10 weeks. With its full launch on the horizon, expectations are sky-high—at least in the domestic market. Currently no mention of for global launch.
CSR Series – $1 Billion+ Lifetime Revenue
Zynga announced that its CSR Racing series has crossed $1 billion in lifetime revenue, with a total of 180 million players across 13 years. That’s a long lifespan for a mobile drag-racing game.
MONOPOLY GO! – $83M in Royalties for Hasbro
Hasbro earned a surprising $83 million in royalties from MONOPOLY GO! during the first half of 2025. This mobile adaptation of the board game has become a licensing goldmine.
Uma Musume: Pretty Derby – $6.6M Outside Japan in 18 Days
After its global launch, Uma Musume: Pretty Derby earned $6.6 million in 18 days outside of Japan. The U.S. is currently the strongest international market in terms of revenue, per AppMagic data.
Platform Update
Nintendo Switch 2 – Over 6 Million Units Sold
The Nintendo Switch 2 has sold over 6 million units worldwide by the end of July 2025, according to Nintendo's financial reports. This includes 5.82 million units sold by June 30, with an additional estimated 0.2 million units sold in July.
The console, launched on June 5, 2025, achieved a record-breaking 3.5 million units sold in its first four days, making it the fastest-selling Nintendo console ever and the fastest-selling home video game console of all time.
By June 30, sales were distributed as follows: 1.8 million units in the Americas, 1.47 million in Japan, 1.18 million in Europe, and 0.55 million in other regions.
The launch title Mario Kart World sold 5.63 million units, with a 96.7% attach rate, largely due to its inclusion in hardware bundles.
Nintendo aims to sell 15 million units by March 2026, and analysts predict it could reach 20 million in its first year, driven by strong demand and titles like Donkey Kong Bananza.
That's it for this month.
